Today marks my first 2nd grade tour of the school year. (They've gotten off to a slow start.) I'm torn between repeating all the fantastic stories I used last year and using new stories I feel have the potential to be fantastic. I'll probably end up using a combination. I'm not quite ready to give last year's books up. Luckily, though my stack is double this year, I'll have plenty of opportunities to share them between now and June.
However, I can't start with anything other than the poem "Sick" by Shel Silverstein. What could be more fun than talking with a school field trip group about not wanting to go to school? I often follow this up with 17 Things I'm Not Allowed to Do Anymore.
