In honor of Teen Read Week I've been tagged by Bibliovore to name my favorite books from adolescence. What were your three favorite books as a teenager? Doesn't need to be a teen book necessarily, just what you read between the ages of 12 and 18ish.
All I read as a teen were adult books, and all I read as an adult are teen books.
Three favorite. . . hmm, just three? I can't do it.
Honorable mentions: Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel and Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews
3. Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
This was a favorite for a very long time. I read it at least once a year for at least six years, gauging my math knowledge by how much of the book I understood. This must have contributed to the insane idea I had before taking calculus 2 that I wanted to be a math major.
2. Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind
One of the many books that my father brought back from a conference. It sat on my shelf for a year or so, but when I finally picked it up I devoured it. I loved the magic and the strong female characters. This was my introduction to epic fantasy.
1. Mama Day by Gloria Naylor
Required reading junior year of high school, I read it sophomore year when my roommate had it. Beautiful story, beautiful writing, I still recommend this to almost everyone I meet.

Hey, thanks for jumping aboard my meme! I'm thinking I'll have to go read Mama Day now.
